HVVME is a solo dark-ambient project that explores post-acousmatic expression, workflows and sensibilities, with blackened field and studio recording aesthetics. The project is informed by Antti’s fixed media praxis and notions of Black Metal affect.
Whilst exploration of Black Metal aesthetics and philosophy has taken place in various forms of popular music practice and contemporary arts, it has never been connected to electroacoustic praxis per se. As such the project is working on empowering the development of a new blackened immersion and thus the production of new form of dark ambient in various formats, mono to surround and fixed releases to installations.
The work will seek to raise awareness of the need for a new way of ‘hearing’ of and ‘listening’ to our natural environment, which is under threat.
HVVME aims to produce a different blackened’ presentation and representation of environmental and natural soundscapes mixed with other concrete sources and Black Metal spectormorphologies.
This exploration is framed through questions and considerations on the production processes and the musical-affective intents of both post-acousmatic composition and Black Metal; the numerous paradoxes and oppositions, at play in Black Metal-EA ’ ‘creation’; and notions of space-time (immersion/entrapment) in Black Metal-EA production and listener experience.
